As markers go, Celtic certainly sent a message out to the rest of the league yesterday as they produced a scintillating display of football to crush St Johnstone 7-0. Title Rivals Rangers kick off their season away to Killmarnock and won’t want a gap to appear already.
This is not Steve Clarke’s Kilmarnock and it’s a club in transition , with payers away and a new manager trying to impose hiss style of football, don’t expect Killie to be anywhere near the levels they were at last season.
Kilmarnock vs Rangers (KO 1.30pm)
Steven Gerrard men did not enjoy their matches against Killie last season with the Ayrshire side being a real thorn in their side.
Much of Kilmarnock’s success was down to Manager Steve Clarke but with him leaving to manage Scotland its up to unknown Italian Angelo Alessio to try and continue the clubs revival.
Its been a horrible start having been embarrassingly knocked out of the Europa League by Welsh minnows Connah Quays and already their is pressure on the new manager.
Rangers have recruited well and have had a good pre season and Europa league campaign – they should win this comfortably against a much weakened Kilmarnock side
Recommended bet:
- Rangers and over 1.5 goals
- 1/1 (Betfair) (NAP)
