WEEK 13 (Night 14) is hosted in Manchester where the weekend gives us another three day weekend for us all.
Looking at movements in the outrights MVG is still 8/15 with a few firms to win the competition, with Rob Cross his closest rival is 9/2. Wade is 10/1 in from 12/1 and Gerwyn Price is now 14/1.
Price and Wade both 1/2 shots to make the top four now, with Suljovic 11/10 with Boylesports and Daryl Gurney a potentially more appealing 23/10 with the Irish firm, although he has Michael van Gerwen to play this week, so this price will shift depending on the result. Sportingbet are taking 3/10 on Gurney not making the semi final, which may tempt some odds on backers
Cross Vs Smith (Cross leads 11-3)
Match odds:
- Cross – 1/1 Sportingbet
- Smith – 52/21 Marathonbet
- Tie – 4/1 Bet365
Cross has a very good record against Bullyboy with two of the three loses occurring on the World Series. In all of the three Premier League meetings Cross has won by an aggregate of 21-13 in legs including a reverse fixture win 7-3 back in March.
The maximum count in the last two weeks has a score line of 12-3 in Smith’s favour. Michael has little more than position to play for, and is well primed at 5/4 with Betway to take on a Rob Cross, who would like to be top dog, but has almost qualified for the top four, but not quite.
Wright Vs Suljovic (Suljovic leads 11-8)
Match odds:
Since the turn of 2018 the pair have met eight times and Mensur has been victorious in all but one game, which was the double in World Grand Prix. Mensur was the victor back at the end of February 7-4 and is well priced at evens to take the points again.
Wright has been suffering with his darts in the last few months, although showed some signs of recovery in the averages in the European Tour over the weekend just gone. Wright averaged a point either side of 100 in his two games, which suggested has Wright turned a corner.
The Austrian is fighting for a spot in the top four and has Cross and MVG to face after Thursday’s fixture. Ergo one would suggest if his quoted price of 11/10 to make the top four is to be considered Mensur will need a result here.
Gurney Vs MVG (MVG leads 18-4)
Match odds:
- Gurney – 6/1 Spreadex
- MVG – 2/5 Sportingbet
- Tie – 6/1 Matchbook
With the four victories and draw in recent times, Gurney has won the last two, which dates back to the end of November at the pro tour finals. The Premier League encounter, which went to a last leg decider in a 12 leg thriller, seeing ten maximums in the process. Both players on the night pocketed a respectable 98 high average.
With Michael not over the line of securing top spot may mean he is knocked off his perch earlier in the evening, if Cross gets a win and with Michael after the regular season bonus and a sixth top of the table in succession within the round robin season, MVG has something to play for and will attract backing at 2/5 in accumulators.
Wade Vs Price (Wade leads 6-3)
Match odds:
- Wade – 13/10 Unibet
- Price – 13/8 Boylesports
- Tie – 4/1 Bet365
Price was annoyed after his draw last week and for good reason as he believed the win passed him by and Cross got lucky. This is a game, where the winner will surely have one foot into the semi finals with two to play. Both players are quoted at 1/2 to make the semi finals, and believe at least one of the two will make it. If I had to call the player that will appear inside the top four it would be James Wade. Both players have had an above average 2019 with pro tour wins.
Bookies have this priced to suit, with Wade the slight advantage throwing first, but with layers taking no chances on 13/8 that Price could spark the win despite needing to break throw to get the win.
Wade is unbeaten in four attempts, dating back almost two years with the pair drawing in the reverse fixture earlier in the campaign.
Bet365 are offering the best odds on the draw and are difficult to ignore especially at 4/1. However on a best of 12 this would have been far more appealing, but with the additional two possible legs, justifies the draw price even further, with other correct score permutations into consideration.
Interesting that layers bar Betway all take Price as the shade of odds on to take the most maximums, with Betway out at 6/4. The same firm have Wade at 10/11 for the most maximums with a BIG 5/1 with Sporting bet for the 180 tie.
Price has landed 43 (155 legs) in the competition, with Wade five fewer on 38 (148). This equates to 0.277 maximums per leg versus 0.256 for Wade with the tie the best runner here for interest.
Recommendations
- Smith most 180s Vs Cross – 5/4 Betway 2pts
- Suljovic – 1/1 Spreadex – 1pt
- Wade/Price – 180 tie – 5/1 Sportingbet 0.25 pts
- ACCA – MVG win and Over 11.5 legs (Wade/Price) – 5/6 Sportingbet 1pt
