He says: “The Championship automatic relegation battle gets tighter with every set of matches played.
“Last weekend Falkirk were the even-money favourites to finish bottom but the market now reads: 5-2 Falkirk, 5-2 Partick Thistle, 3-1 Queen of the South, 4-1 Morton and 10-1 Alloa.
“And it looks likely goal difference may be the deciding factor about which team faces the dreaded drop.
“Regular readers will know I have been with Alloa recently and they have managed to pull four points clear of bottom spot with four wins on the bounce.
“The Wasps travel to face bottom club Partick Thistle on Saturday in an enormous game for both clubs.
“This is probably going to be a tight, nervy affair and I wouldn’t want to be taking odds of 4-5 about the Jags winning, especially given Alloa’s recent form.
“The 10-3 offer about the Wasps looks terrific value and as a result the first-scorer odds offer inflated prices about the Alloa players.
“Dario Zanatta has more yellow cards than goals this season but the striker has scored two crucial goals in narrow wins over Ross County and Falkirk recently. He looks overpriced at 9-1 with McBookie to score the opening goal
“The other six-pointer in the Championship relegation fight involves Falkirk and Morton, with Ton a couple of points ahead of the Bairns, but with a worse goal difference.
“Morton have been the team in freefall in the Championship in 2019 – winning just one of their last 14 league games.
“Falkirk had a confidence-boosting 1-0 away win at Dunfermline last week and I expect them to leapfrog Morton by taking all three points.
“If Falkirk do survive the drop Zak Rudden’s goals will have played a huge role in their survival and he is 3-1 with McBookie to get the ball rolling for the Bairns on Saturday with the first goal.
“Finally in League One bottom club Stenhousemuir have left it late but might just manage to wriggle their way out of the drop.
“Stenny have picked up seven points from their last three games and joined Brechin on 35 points, albeit with a worse goal difference.
“On Saturday they entertain Forfar who have a chance to overhaul Raith and grab second spot in the table.
“I’m going to stick with the Warriors though and 30-year-old striker Mark McGuigan who grabbed the winner last weekend against Airdrie.
“McGuigan has scored 17 goals from his last 31 games this season and is 19-5 with McBookie to get the first goal on Saturday.”
