I TIPPED Barcelona to win at Old Trafford last week but they were workmanlike rather than wonderful.
A 1-0 win was a good outcome for the Spaniards and Man United need a repeat of their last-16 miracle when they lost 2-0 at home to PSG but qualified on away goals.
Barcelona are mentally stronger than the French, have lost one in 78 at the Nou Camp and are more experienced at this level.
And crucially all of their stars were rested for the weekend 0-0 draw at Huesca while United went full strength against West Ham.
I’m backing Barca at 2-5 with Betfred while United are 7-1 with McBookie to win and 9-1 at bet365 to reach the semis.
Lionel Messi was roughed up at Old Trafford but he’ll be fresher tonight and looking to punish his perpretators who haven’t kept a clean sheet in nine. He is 5-2 at McBookie to score first with his strike pal Luis Suarez 7-2.
For me there’s a huge gap between the sides and I’m considering Barcelona -1 at evens with Ladbrokes.
In the other tie Juventus are 4-11 favourites at Betfred to qualify and end Ajax’s adventure.
The Dutch have been brilliant and will point to their 4-1 win at Real Madrid as evidence they can make the semis at 9-2 with bet365.
But Juve recovered from 2-0 down at Atletico Madrid to power through at home and Cristiano Ronaldo can push them over the line.
He is 3-1 at McBookie to score first but with Ajax needing to attack best bet could be over 2.5 match goals at 4-5 with McBookie.
Recommended Bets
- Barcelona to win/Juve v Ajax over 2.5 goals
- Messi to score first
- Ronaldo to score first
