THINGS are starting to hot up at both ends of the table across most the UK leagues and its the English Championship I’ll be focusing on again. Could have easily posted 7 or 8 matches I really like the look of today,
Match of the day comes from Villa Park as 5th placed Aston villa look to make it an incredible 8 wins in a row against a Bristol City side directly below them in the league.
A win for Villa will all but secure a play off spot whilst a win for the visitors would go a long way to ensuring they don’t have to worry about the chasing back catching them. A number of clubs will be hoping it ends all square bit one thing we should see it plenty of goals.
Aston Villa vs Bristol City (KO 3pm)
Dean’s Smith’s Villa side brought in Wednesday’s NAP as they fended off Rotherham despite going down to 10 men in the first half.
It was Villa’s 7 consecutive league win and it’s that for m that has propelled them into the playoff’s, a feat unthinkable a few months ago
6 of those 7 matches saw over 2.5 goals with Villa scoring 2 or more in 6 of them and they have finally sorted out their home form with just one defeat in 8 after a run of games were the were conceding at least 2 goals in every home match
They couldn’t have asked for tougher opponents as This Bristol City side are also in great shape coming into this. Their away from has been terrific and they’ve already been to Sheffield United and Middlesbrough recently and let with maximum points.
They’ve won 7 of their last 10 away matches and know a victory today all but secures a place in the playoff’s
I was originally going with the straight Villa win at 19/20 and over 1.5 Villa goals also appealed but I’m going to stick to goals, especially given the form both of these are in the amount of goals we’ve seen at Villa Park.
Villa don’t keep many clean sheets as we know so it wouldn’t a surprise to see the visitors grab a goal here.
