Damian writes: “Goodwillie gave this column a welcome winner last week so hopefully we can bag a couple more first scorers this week. Dunfermline were one of my selections last week and although they won, sadly there was no winning first-scorer bet.
“The Pars have been in excellent form of late – winning their last four matches. The foundation of this has been a miserly defence and they have now played over six hours of Championship football since they last conceded a goal.
“That run has taken them up to fourth place in the table and a play-off spot. On Saturday they travel to face Alloa Athletic, who have been going in the opposite direction.
“The Wasps have taken just three points from their last five Championship games and slipped to second bottom in the table, just a point ahead of Partick Thistle. And because of last weekend’s Scottish Cup action it is two weeks since Alloa played a competitive match.
“Alloa are the joint-lowest scorers in the division, so I don’t expect them to breach the Pars’ tight defence, and yet they have let in on average over two goals a game in their six matches.
“Odds of 3-4 about Dunfermline still look attractive to these eyes and I am confident of a fifth straight win for them. I am sticking with Aberdeen loanee Bruce Anderson for the first goal and he is a 4-1 shot with McBookie.
“Stepping down a division into League One and Forfar have been piling on the points – taking 22 points out of a possible 27 from their last nine league games.
“As a result the Loons have charged up to third in the table and on current form seem the most likely runners-up to champions elect Arbroath.
“On Saturday they travel to face Brechin who sit second bottom in the table just ahead of Stenhousemuir. I really expected Forfar to be odds on at 8-11 but are available at a generous looking 11-10.
“Forfar striker John Baird has been on a fantastic run – scoring in 10 of the last 16 matches, including the last two. Baird is 9-2 with McBookie to be the game’s first goalscorer.
“Finally in League Two I haven’t had the greatest success taking on Peterhead recently but the odds are plain wrong about them for their home game with Annan.
“Annan have won six of their last seven matches and their results during that run have been excellent against the top three – beating Peterhead 3-0, Edinburgh City 2-1 and drawing 1-1 with Clyde.
“Peterhead have been in great form themselves but odds of 7-2 do not do justice to the visitors and their recent form.
“Annan’s Tony Wallace scored twice in last weekend’s 2-1 win over Queen’s Park and is a huge 10-1 with McBookie to score the opener.
