IT’S an action packed Saturday card and there are quite a few games that stand out, none more so than the Scottish Championship basement battle between Alloa Athletic and Falkirk. These two look like they are heading in different directions and its worth taking the Bairns to leap frog their part time opponents.
Alloa Athletic vs Falkirk (KO 3pm)
Its been a miserably season for Ray McKinnons Falkirk side and for them to be bottom of the table would have been unthinkable back in August and buts that’s the predicament they are in. They are a big club in this league with a fan base that a lot of Premiership teams would envy, relegation would be a disaster, however they are showing signs that they are going to get out of this and push up the league.
They are unbeaten in the 4 (2 wins and 2 draws) and those wins being a terrific 3-0 win at home to QOS and a shock 1-0 win away to high flying Ayr.
They’ve brought some useful signing in the January transfer window and the momentum is definitely with them as they make the short journey to Alloa.
Jim Goodwin has done a tremendous job with what he has at Alloa, they are tiny in comparison to every other club in the division, they are part time and their budget will be non existent but he’s managed to make them competitive and difficult to beat.
Sadly though they just don’t have the resources that Thistle and Falkirk have, both of whom have strengthened significantly in January
Alloa are tough to beat at home, and with the weather conditions out there absolutely horrendous, its not going to be pretty but I just feel the bookies have underestimated Falkirk given their recent form and they shouldn’t be as big as 2/1
Recommended Bet:
- Falkirk to Beat Alloa
- 2/1 (William Hill)
- Falkirk to score before 60 mins
- 5/6 (Bet365)
Gateshead vs Havant & Waterlooville (KO 3pm)
Havant make the long long 700 mile round trip up to Gateshead, a side 18 points ahead of them in right in the mix for the play off’s.
Havant’s away form isn’t the greatest and I don’t see them leaving the north east with anything. Great opportunity for Gateshead to cement their playoff challenge
Kilmarnock vs Rangers (KO 5.30pm)
Wont say too much on this game – Killie have had the better of Rangers since Steven Clarke joined but I just think momentum is with the visitors who again, absolutely must win this Scottish tie and they are worth backing
Recommended Bet
- Gateshead / Rangers Double
- 9/4 (Marathonbet)
Don’ t forget the late goal at QPR – Goal after 72 mins 5/6
