Meanwhile, here is McBookie‘s Damian Walker with his thoughts for this weekend.
Damian writes: “Very frustrating to tip 5-1 winners Forfar at Arbroath and not get the first goalscorer but I will be sticking with Forfar who have once again been hugely under-estimated by the bookies.
“The Loons have been on a fantastic run which seems to have slipped under the bookies’ radar. Prior to that Arbroath win Forfar had won their last three straight League One matches and moved up to fourth in the table.
“So a team with now four straight league wins, who have just beaten the runaway leaders 2-0 away from home, are priced at 7-2 to win at Raith Rovers – the 8-11 favourites.
“The way this game was priced up you’d think Raith were miles ahead of Forfar in the table and in great form.
“But they come into this game just three points ahead of Forfar and on the back of a 2-1 defeat to Brechin who are just three points off automatic relegation.
“I’ll be having another decent bet on them at the single odds but the point of this column is to find value first scorers so I have to stick with last weekend’s selection John Baird who has 11 goals from 22 League One matches this season.
“Baird was plying his trade in the Championship last season and is a striker to fear at this level. McBookie make him 13-2 to score the opening goal.
“And I am staying in League One for my second selection and taking on Dumbarton who have a threadbare squad and could be the value bet to finish bottom in this division.
“The Sons have just one win from their last 10 matches and are without a win in seven. Yet they are just 9-5 to win away at Airdrie who are 10 points and four places ahead of them in the table. Those odds make no sense at all and Airdrie look at decent bet at 7-5.
“Airdrie striker Leighton McIntosh seems to have been around forever but is only 25 years of age.
“He has had an excellent goals-to-games ratio wherever he has played and has four goals from his last six matches. An added bonus is the fact that he is the penalty taker for the Diamonds and he is 6-1 with McBookie to grab the first goal.
“Finally, Falkirk’s massive number of January recruits must be settled in well by now and I expect them to finish the season strongly.
“The Bairns have lost just two of their last eight matches, including beating Ayr United in that run, and I fancy them to beat Queen of the South this weekend – a game for which they are 21-10 outsiders.
“Zak Rudden had his loan period at Fakirk extended which must have been a huge relief for Jim McIntyre as Rudden has scored nine of the Bairns’ 20 Championship goals this season. Rudden is 4-1 with McBookie to score first.
“Can you find a winner!”
