Focus falls on the second tiers north and south of the border tonight with issues at the either end of the table yet to be resolved.
Blackpool and Millwall are desperate for points at opposite ends of the Championship table.
The Seasiders won at Birmingham City last week to retain hope of survival but they’ll need a minor miracle to avoid relegation from here.
They’d need to win by five goals tonight to move out of the relegation zone and to make matters worse the teams they’re chasing all have a game in hand on them. Their return to form all looks a little too late.
The Lions similarly need a bit good fortune to cop a play-off place. There are up to eight teams still vying for two places, separated by just four points with two to play.
Gary Rowatt’s side will feel like they’ve blown it after a disasterous April in which they’ve won just one of six Championship matches including a 2-1 loss at bottom-of-the-table Wigan last week. But all is not lost yet and two wins from their remaining two games are an absolute must.
It’s currently goal difference that’s keeping them out of the top six. They trail Sunderland by three so not only will Millwall be targeting the three points tonight they we could see them really push for goals if they get up a head of steam at Bloomfield Road.
With that in mind a punt on them scoring two or more looks worth backing at 6/5.
The race for promotion to the Scottish Premiership is now down to just two teams and Dundee can take massive step towards a return to the top flight with a win at home to bottom side Cove Rangers at Dens Park tonight.
A win would move them four points clear of Queen’s Park who are in action tomorrow at Greenock Morton, before a final day showdown with the Spiders next Friday night.
Gary Bowyer will be deperate to go in to that with his side’s noses in front and the couldn’t have picked a better match to put themselves in a commanding position.
However, Cove pulled off a huge win at Abroath last week to keep their hopes of staying in the Championship alive. It was their first win in 11 so perhaps there’s still life left in Paul Hartley’s side yet.
Bowyer has asked fans to be patient tonight as it might be a tense affair with so much at stake for the league leaders so we could be looking at a low-scoring win for Dundee, in which case to so without conceding, something they’ve done in the last two meetings with Cove, appeals at 1/1.
