Another round of Champions League fixtures rolls around tonight and tomorrow as we rush towards the completion of the group stages.
With two matchdays to go there’s a handful of teams for whom qualification has already been secured.
One of those is Manchester City who travel to Borussia Dortmund for the second Erling-Haaland-Derby in Group G. It was the Premier League side that won when the sides met at the Etihad, inevitably the winner being struck by the Norwegian striker late in the game.
If it’s written in the stars that he returns to Westfalenstadion and scores again this evening you can have 4/6 at Bet365. It might be best to wait until team news is announced. A point should be enough for the Germans to guarantee a place in the last 16 but it’s not in Dortmund’s DNA to sit back and try to defend their way to a draw.
The bookies fear a goalfest, pricing up Over 2.5 at 1/2 and Over 3.5 at 6/5. That might hinge on whether Haaland starts. If he does it’s game on. The First Half Asian Goal Line is set at +1.0/+1.5 at 1.875, so half your money back if there’s only one goal.
In Glasgow, Celtic have little more than pride to play for against Shakhtar Donetsk. There’s a slim chance that they can nick third in Group F but they’d need to follow up a win this evening with at least a draw at the Bernabeu next week to even have half a chance. It’s a tall order but won’t dampen the atmosphere in the east end of Glasgow tonight.
Ange Postecoglou’s side put up a good display against the Ukrainians on matchday two but couldn’t capitalise in their 1-1 draw in Poland. That performance will give them hope they can pick up their first victory of the campaign and the bookies agree, making them clear 10/11 faves to win.
Shakhtar can still make the last 16 so will be going to Celtic Park looking for something from the game that could take them above RB Leipzig, whom they meet next week. That could lead to an open game and Over 2.5 Goals should probably be a little shorter than 4/6.
Chelsea still have some work to do in Group E. They sit top of the table but only by a point and defeat tonight could make for a tense night at Stamford Bridge next week when Dinamo Zagreb visit.
Hosts RB Salzburg remain unbeaten after four matches but they’ve drawn three of those, perhaps proving they’re hard to beat. They held Milan to a 1-1 draw but given how easily the Blues have swatted the Italians aside we probably shouldn’t read too much in to that.
8/11 on a Chelsea win feels a little on the skinny side, so instead, look to the goals markets in this one. This group has produced the joint-lowest number of goals and no team has seen fewer goals scored in their opening four games than RB Leipzig (Atletico Madrid have also seen seven scored). In addition, Chelsea’s four matches have only seen eight goals scored so this could be a low scorer or certainly a slow starter. Under 2.5 Goals is attractive enough at 10/11 as is the 5/6 on no goal before the 29th minute.
Avoiding that Salzburg v Chelsea game, all 8pm kick-offs to go Over 1.5 Goals pays 19/10 at Bet365, which should give you an interest right up until the final whistle.
