Dunfermline Athletic will be looking to get their Scottish League One promotion push back on track when they play host to Peterhead on Saturday afternoon.
The Pars continue to set the pace in the third tier but they will be keen to return to winning ways following a 1-1 draw with fierce foes Falkirk a fortnight ago.
In stark contrast, Peterhead have started the season with five defeats from their opening seven league games, and as a result find themselves propping up the table.
As such, Dunfermline head into this match as short-priced 2/7 favourites, however we can boost those odds up to 17/20 (Betway) by backing the home team to overcome a – 1.5 start on the Asian Handicap.
This selection would deliver a full pay-out if Dunfermline triumph by at least two goals and that holds plenty of appeal given that this fixture pits together the sides top and bottom of the table.
What’s more, after drawing three of their last four league games, this looks like a perfect opportunity for Dunfermline to fix their faltering form.
As already alluded to, Jim McInally’s men have made a miserable start to the season and that can be attributed to the fact that they are shipping goals at an alarming rate.
The Blue Toon have leaked a league-high 19 goals thus far and have failed to keep a clean sheet across each of their opening seven Scottish League One assignments of the season, not to mention they were embarrassed 4-0 at home to Elgin in the SPFL Trust Trophy last weekend.
That doesn’t bode well ahead of a trip to East End Park where they will come up against a table-topping Dunfermline team that are still very much a Championship standard side.
With all things considered, as well as the fact that all five of Peterhead’s league losses so far have seen their opponents overcome this hurdle, backing James McPake’s men to follow suit stands out at 17/20 (Betway).
