The DP World Tour continues this week with the Real D& D Czech Masters at the Albatross Golf Resort, Prague, Czech Republic.
The 156 field, with the top 65 inc ties making the cut, will all be competing for a share of the $1.75 M prize purse with the winner receiving the Czech Masters title and a cheque for $297,500.
I’ve already posted this week’s preview on the website for the BMW Championship as the FedEx playoffs heat up so be sure to have a look at that with reviews after yet another amazing weekend for us all to savour here at MFT with two outright winners and much much more.
Czech Masters Preview
Johannes Veerman returns to defend the title he won in 2021 with a scorecard reading -15 so expect more low scoring again this time around.
Albatross Golf Resort will be playing 7,468 yards long this week, it’s a par 72 with more of a links feel to it so scrambling around the greens will prove pivotal to determine who will prevail in Prague this weekend.
The weather is forecast to be sunny and very warm on Thursday but although staying hot, rain along with overcast conditions are forecast for Friday, Saturday & Sunday. Breezes will peak at around 11mph so shouldn’t pose any problems.
This event will be screened on Sky Sports Golf with live coverage starting at midday on Thursday.
So let’s move swiftly on with this week’s Real D & D Czech Masters betting tips.
John Catlin
For my first and main selection in Prague, I’m going to single out John Catlin 33/1 EW Bet365. The 31-year-old American from California is a regular on the DP World Tour and has seven finishes inside the Top 25 in the nineteen events entered this year.
His best performance this season was when finishing 4th at the Irish Open. He also arrives here fresh from a good effort where he earned 13th place last weekend at the ISPS Handa World Invitational.
With three DP World Tour crowns already in the bag, the American arrives in Prague with more experience than most in this field and this long yardage Albatrosses layout is all set up for his game. Winner at the Austrian Golf Open in 2021, as well as winning both the Irish Open and the Andalucia Masters in 2020, John Catlin will be trying to figure out how to get back on the winner’s podium anytime soon.
Ranked 6th on the DP World Tour this season for Driving Accuracy and 13th for Sand Saves, it’s these two stats that if combined successfully again this week, could see John Catlin claiming his first victory this year at the Czech Masters in Prague.
Thomas Pieters
For my next prediction, I’m going to advise, Thomas Pieters 17/2 EW SportNation. The 30-year-old from Antwerp in Belgium is a specialist at the Albatross Golf Resort, it’s a stomping ground for Pieters and it’s where he won his maiden breakthrough title way back in 2015.
He enjoyed that victory so much that he came back and did it all over again here in 2019. He was also runner-up at this venue in 2016. Ranking 35th in the world rankings at the moment, way above almost everyone in this field, that’s why he’s won six DP World Tour events to date. Runner up just a few weeks back at the BMW International Open and a very respectable 28th last time out at The 150th Open Championship. Along with that victory at the start of the year at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, ignore Pieters this week at your peril.
He’s the most likely winner in my book.
Sean Crocker
For my next selection, I’m going to point you all in the direction of Sean Crocker 30/1 EW 10Bet. The 25-year-old old American won the Hero Open just a few weeks ago to claim his maiden DP World Tour title and if he plays anything like that then it’s only a matter of time before he doubles up, possibly this weekend.
His other notable performance this year worth a mention was 7th at the Soudal Open Crocker, with averages over 307 yards Driving Distance on the DP World Tour and last year ranked 5th for Greens in Regulation. If he can put both those figures together this week in Prague then he will be well on his way to scooping his second title in as many months with another DP World Tour crown.
For my final selection at the BMW Invitational, it’s the customary match bet and for this week’s DP World Tour NAP I’m going to advise Hennie du Plessis to beat Ian Poulter who no longer delivers. 10/11 Nap Bet365 72 hole match bet.
