The stakes couldn’t be higher at Ibrox tonight as Rangers and PSV go head-to-head for a place at Europe’s top table and all the riches it brings.
The Champions League play-off pits Giovanni van Bronckhorst against his former international team-mate Ruud van Nistelrooy and we should be in for another blistering night at Ibrox.
Last week we highlighted James Tavernier’s incredible record of scoring first for Rangers in Europe at home and he delivered again, once more from the penalty spot. That’s now the last four he’s opened the scoring for the Gers at Ibrox but despite his record, Bet365 have nine players ahead of him in the betting and he’s 10/1 to break the deadlock again and a very appealing 10/3 to score anytime.
As for the game itself Rangers have been backed in to favouritism, but only just. They’re 31/20 to grab a first leg lead with PSV at 17/10 to win. It looks a difficult one to call. Rangers have started their domestive season with three wins from three, while PSV have scored nine in their opening two matches in Eredivisie with six different players finding the net so far.
That means we could be set up for some goals and it’s 4/6 for both sides to net. Throw in a first-half goal for 20/21 BetBuilder at Bet365.
Also aiming for a place in the Champions League group stages are Bodo/Glimt who welcome Dinamo Zagreb to the Arctic Circle. The Norwegian champions have been scoring for fun lately, banging in 34 in their last seven matches. Zagreb have been no slouches either bagging 25 in their last night. Interesting, they’ve managed just one clean sheet in that time so rather than backing the Eliteserien side to win at 23/20 it might be a better option to take them to score two or more at 1/1 with SBK.
There’s a full card of EFL matches over the course of tonight and tomorrow.
In League One Burton Albion look like they might struggle this season. They’ve conceded 11 goals already in three games and host top of the table Ipswich Town. The Tractor Boys are 3/4 to win.
Rochdale are the only pointless side in League Two. They visit Stevenage who’ve won seven points from nine so far and could be good value at 11/10 to add another three points to their tally.
Last week we also highlight Vincent Kompany’s Burnley domianting possession and winning lots of corners in their opening matches of the season. They won the corner count 6-3 despite defeat at Vicarage Road on Friday and should enjoy more corner success at home to Hull. Rather than take them on the handicap where they’re set at -2, it’s likely to be better to back them at 4/6 to take Over 5.5.

Tuesday’s racing doesn’t appeal to Rizzel, so he has only picked out one selection which comes in the opener at Hamilton.
