SlipsTips is back to share two selections from Falkirk’s match with Peterhead in Scottish League One on Saturday.
Falkirk vs Peterhead (Saturday, 15:00)
Falkirk will be looking to secure their first league win of the season at the third attempt when they play host to Peterhead on Saturday afternoon.
The Bairns have been one of the perennial strugglers in League One in recent years, and this season doesn’t look like it’s going to get any easier in what promises to be a fiercely competitive third tier.
After finishing top of their Premier Sports Cup group – a pool that included top-flight Hibernian- John McGlynn’s men were brought back down to earth with an opening day stalemate with Montrose before suffering a 4-0 shredding at Airdrie last weekend.
As for Peterhead, they put the brakes on their troubled start to the season with a spirited 2-2 draw at Clyde last time out, although they were unable to force the victory despite their numerical advantage for the final half-hour.
The money has started to come for Falkirk who are now general 1/2chances on Saturday but we can get some 4/5 (Bet 365) on them to overcome a -0.75 start on the Asian Handicap and that looks like a worthy boost in price.
This selection would deliver a full pay-out if the Falkirk triumph by two goals or more, with a half-stakes winner banked if the Bairns bag a victory by a one-goal margin.
Despite their stuttering start to the League One season, this could be a perfect opportunity for Falkirk to fix their faltering form.
Peterhead’s well documented recruitment issues has been a topic of conversation during the early weeks of the season, with most pundits predicting a long and arduous season for the Blue Toon.
While Jim McInally’s men will certainly be buoyed by last week’s showing at Clyde, prior to picking up that point the Balmoor side had suffered five successive defeats, shipping 15 goals in the process.
As such, I suspect this fixture could represent a good opportunity for Falkirk to restore some confidence, and therefore backing the Bairns to overcome a -0.75 start on the Asian Handicap at 4/5 (Bet 365) makes plenty of appeal.
With all things considered, the 4/5 available with Bet 365 for Falkirk to score two or more goals also looks worthy of interest.
Peterhead have conceded at least twice in each of their six competitive outings this season so far so they could represent a spot of early season value to suffer a similar fate at the Falkirk Stadium on Saturday.
