International football isn’t a lot of fans’ cup of tea and nor is it great for punters.
The UEFA Nations League was supposed to make for competitive matches, which in fairness it has but it’s not made things any easier from a betting angle and tonight’s matches look tough to call once again.
France may not have it all their own way in Paris where Denmark are the visitors. Since losing out to England in the semi-finals of the Euros the Danes strolled their World Cup qualifying group, losing just once, to Scotland, after top spot was wrapped up with nine straight wins. However they have come up short when up against the elite nations in Europe, a friendly draw with Germany and defeats to Belgium, England and Netherlands suggest they’re still a bit short to compete for honours at this level.
They have managed to find in the net in all of those games though and backing BTTS at the Stade de France could be profitable at 11/10.
Likewise in Brussels there could be goals between Belgium and Netherlands. The Dutch have scored 26 in their last eight and Spurs’ Steven Bergwijn has scored four in his last three for his country. He’s 2/1 to score any time.
Belgium’s fabled Golden Generation are starting to look an ageing squad with the likes of Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Witsel, Hazard and De Bruyne now all in their 30s with 29 year-old Lukaku not far behind them. They might have one or two more cracks at silverware in them but they’re no longer ranked the top team on the planet and the Dutch might fancy their chances here at 2/1.
Over 2.5 Goals looks a good bet here though at 4/5, a bet that woud’ve landed in 10 of Netherlands last 16 outings and eight of Belgium’s last 10.
Croatia are unbeaten in nine since their extra-time defeat to Spain at Euro 2020. They should be too good at home for an Austria side who are the second lowest ranked side, behind Hungary, in the top flight League A section of the Nations League.
