Tuesday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me focus on the Swedish second-tier and there’s a fixture that I expect to be a high-scoring match.
Jönköpings Södra IF vs Skövde AlK
🇸🇪 Superettan
⏰ Tuesday 24th May, 18:00
Two sides who have made contrasting starts to the season meet at Stadsparksvallen, as Jönköpings Södra play host to Skövde. The hosts are currently 13th, occupying the final relegation playoff spot, whilst the visitors are seventh, just two off third place.
After a 5-2 win at home to third-placed Ustikten, Jönköping Södra managed to extend their unbeaten run to two, as they salvaged a 2-2 draw away to Västerås SK thanks to a 96th minute equaliser. Patric Jildefalk’s side have found the back of the net in all eight of their opening fixtures this season, with that stoppage-time goal last time out also meaning they have scored on multiple occasions in six of them. Only five sides in the Swedish second-tier have scored more goals than the 17 Jönköpings Södra have, with all five sides having played a game more. However, J-Södra are still yet to record a clean sheet this season and no side in the Superettan has conceded more than the 20 they have.
Following back-to-back 3-1 defeats against both Halmstad and Dalkurd, Skövde drew 0-0 at home to fifth-placed Örebro last time out. Prior to their current three-match winless run, ex Everton midfielder Tobias Linderoth saw his side collect 13 points from a possible 15. That goalless draw last time out was the first time Skövde have failed to score this season, with the newly promoted side have scored 13 times in their previous seven matches. SAIK have recorded three clean sheets so far this season, however, all three have came at home, with Skövde conceding eight times in their four away matches.
Bet of the Day
Jönköpings Södra have been involved in many high-scoring matches this season and I’m expecting another one when they play host to Skövde on Tuesday. Patric Jildefalk’s hosts have scored 17 goals so far this season and will look to add to that tally against a Skövde side that’s already conceded eight times in their four matches away from home. However, J-Södra are yet to record a clean sheet so far this season, also possessing the leagues leakiest defence and I don’t see them recording one here against a Skövde side that’s scored 13 times in their eight matches. Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals has landed in all eight of Jönköpings Södra’s opening fixtures this season and I’m happy to back the same when ex Everton midfielder Tobias Linderoth brings his Skövde side to Southern Sweden.
