Good Friday serves up a full Football League card of fixtures as teams jockey for position in search of promotion and trying to stave off relegation across the three divisions.
Just one defeat this calendar year makes Nottingham Forest the form team in the Championship and they’re still in the hunt for an automatic promotions spot back to the Premiership.
They’ve won a remarkable 33 points from the last 42 available to rise to fourth in the table and they find themselves just six points off second place with seven games to play. Today’s visit to Luton town gives them the chance to put some distance between themselves and one of their challengers.
The Hatters themselves are bang in the mix for one of those top six spots but defeat today would se them fall five points behind Forest having played two games more so it’s pretty much must-win for them. But defeat to Huddersfield on Monday night made it three without a win and Forest can make it four with a win at Kenilworth Road today.
It’s 6/4 on the away win and that looks decent value for a side who have won five on the bounce already.
That Huddersfield win over Luton boosted their promotion chances and they look a good bet at even money against a QPR side that’s lost their five in a row and won only one in their last eight.
Sunderland’s home form could be the key to their promotion chances. They boast the third best home record in League One and are 3/4 to build on that today at home to Shrewsbury. Add them to Leyton Orient for a home win double at just over 6/4. The O’s host Scunthorpe who looked doomed in League Two.
