ANNAN ATHLETIC look a solid bet to pile on the misery to Elgin City at a tasty 6/5 in League Two on Saturday.
Peter Murphy’s side had a mini-blip recently when they crashed to a shock defeat at home to Stenhousemuir last month, but normal service has been resumed after four wins from their last five games. Their only defeat came away to runaway league leaders Kety Hearts. They’ve also scored four goals in both of their last two games and confidence is flowing.
Elgin appear to be in freefall. They did halt a run of five defeats in a row with a home win against ten-man Stirling and then claimed a point at Forfar. But the Borough Briggs side are in danger of being dragged into a relegation battle and the home win, which has already been cut this week, looks too big.
QUEEN OF THE SOUTH can add to the pressure on Raith Rovers and they also look to be decent value at 19/10 at home.
The appointment of Wullie Gibson as manager until the end of the season at least certainly seems to have handed the Doonhamers a shot in the arm.
A late midweek defeat to a penalty at Partick Thistle has been their only recent blip as they hauled themselves off the bottom of the Championship.
They drew at home to leaders Arbroath before winning at in-form Ayr United, League One leaders Cove Rangers in the Challenge Cup then thumping a Morton side who had been performing well in Dumfries last week.
Raith’s off-field distractions involving David Goodwillie seems to have had a real negative impact on the entire club. Last week, they were hammered 4-0 by Ayr United and they haven’t won a game in the league since December 11.
South are outsiders here and they can make a mockery of that.
AIRDRIE are 16 points clear of Falkirk, haven’t lost in the league since the start of December, but are still 13/8 outsiders to win at the Bairns.
The Diamonds are doing everything to try and catch Cove Rangers in League One, who they drew with recently in Aberdeen and have won three of their last four games.
They face a Falkirk side who have steadied the ship under Martin Rennie without really making any eye-catching progress and managed to only draw at Clyde last week.
Airdrie have already beaten Falkirk twice this season and can make it three.
