It is Ascot Chase Day at Ascot where the feature race is a fascinating Group One contest over fences.
The action takes place between 1.15-4.45 and you can watch it all via live streaming when logged into MansionBet – alongside all the action from the UK and Ireland. Our tipster has previewed Ascot’s Saturday card.
1.15 – Join Kim Bailey Racing Novices’ Hurdle (2m3½f)
SKYTASTIC has a 100% record heading into this novice hurdle contes, and he can extend his winning run to four races. Sam Thomas’ runner looked impressed on his hurdles debut at Doncaster. The six-year-old will need to carry a penalty, but he looks to have an exciting future so it should not trouble him.
Selection: Skytastic @ 5/6
1.50 – Bateaux London Reynoldstown Novices’ Chase (3m – Grade 2)
Both of CORACH RAMBLER’s successes over fences have come at distances around 3m. The trip at Warwick (3m5f) last time just appeared too much of a stretch for him. Connections have opted to apply the tongue tie in this race. Expect to see him bounce back in this Grade Two contest.
Selection: Corach Rambler @ 10/3
2.25 – greatbritishstallionshowcase.co.uk Swinley Chase (3m – Listed)
Venetia Williams’ yard is in good form at the moment, which is a big plus towards HOLD THAT THOUGHT’s chances here. He began his campaign with victory at Carlisle (3m2f) but he has failed to add to his account in two runs since. He will be receiving weight from all of his rivals here, which he can take full advantage of to land the top prize.
Selection: Hold That Thought @ 4/1
3.00 – Dingley’s Promise Handicap Hurdle (2m3½f)
CAP DU MATHAN made a successful return to action last month at Taunton (2m3f) after 12 months off the track. He was a comfortable winner of that handicap hurdle. The handicapper has reacted by raising him 9lb in the ratings. He looks good enough to defy this climb in the weights.
Selection: Cap Du Mathan @ 11/2
3.38 Betfair Ascot Chase (2m5f – Grade 1)
Three-time Grade Two winner Mister Fisher has a great chance of winning the first Grade One race of his career here. The Seven Barrows runner was right at his best when claiming the Silviniaco Conti Chase at Kempton last time out. This is a competitive renewal of the Ascot Chase, but he seems the most likely winner.
Selection: Mister Fisher @ 11/2
4.10 Ascot – Ascot Racecourse Supports The Autism In Racing Handicap Hurdle (2m7½f)
Dr Richard Newland has been able to get the best out of ART OF DIPLOMACY since the horse moved to his yard back in November. The gelding recorded his second success in three starts last month at Catterick (3m1½f). He has gone up 10lb in the ratings, but Cillin Leonard takes off a useful 5lb from his back here, which keeps him in with a good chance of continuing his hot form.
Selection: Art Of Diplomacy @ 4/1
4.45 Ascot – British EBF Mares’ Open National Hunt Flat Race (1m7½f)
It was a successful start under Rules for ROC OF DUNDEE at Wetherby on her debut for Donald McCain last month. She is the only winner in this field so she will need to carry a penalty. There should be much more to come from the mare.
Selection: Roc Of Dundee @ 9/4
