At the start of the season, it would’ve been hard to imagine Brendan Rodgers being favourite in the Premier League Sack Race but after a humbling exit from the FA Cup at the weekend, he’s now as short as 5/2 to be the next manager shown the door, ahead of Sean Dyche (6/1), Roy Hodgson (12/1) and Eddie Howe (14/1).
The last thing Rodgers needs is a trip to his former club Liverpool. The Reds should be able to welcome back Mo Salah from his African Cup of Nations exploits but Saido Mane has been ruled out as he basks in the glory of winning his country’s first major trophy.
Salah is ridiculously priced at just 1/2 to mark his return with a goal and while you wouldn’t put it past the Egyptian hitman he can’t be backed at that price. There should be goals however but again the Over 2.5 odds of 1/3 make a little appeal so how about 1.975 on there being two or more first-half goals at Bet365?
The night’s other Premier League match sees Arsenal visit Wolves and it could be a completely different story at Molineux as far as goals are concerned.
Wolves matches are averaging just 1.67 per game this season. 19 goals scored is the third-lowest tally in the division while defensively their record of 16 goals conceded is only bettered by Manchester City.
The Gunners come into this one off the back of five games without a win and have only won one of their last six meetings with Wolves so this looks like another tricky assignment for Mikel Arteta’s side but the bookies make them favourites at 23/20 to take all three points.
Of Arsenal’s four away wins this season, three of them have come against teams currently sitting in the bottom five (Burnley, Leeds, Norwich) and the other at Leicester who has a pretty poor home record by their own standards this season, therefore Wolves look the better value at 13/5.
