Rogue
We said last week that the winner of the Fnatic v Rogue series would likely go on to win the LEC. Rogue remains unbeaten, as they maintain their “Kings of the Regular Split” title. Fnatic ending week three 0-2 has certainly helped. With matches against Excel, and G2 Esports this week, it’s another big one. We’d suggest Rogue goes 2-0 once again, though G2 Esports is now hot on their heels, so be wary of that match.
Fnatic
Last week Fnatic needed to beat Rogue, not only did they fail to do that, but they failed to win their other match. Fnatic is now joint in the LEC table with G2 Esports, who are catching them fast. Fnatic come up against MAD and Excel, and honestly, it could be a rough week for Fnatic. 1-1 is the safe option here, with Excel likely to be an easy opponent. For Fnatic, they need to win both matches, or else they risk getting left behind.
Vitality
After a resurgence in Week two, Vitality went 1-1 in week three. This week they face the bottom of the LEC Astralis, and surging hopefuls Misfits. Vitality needs to go 2-0, but, Misfits could cause an upset. With three matches left in the first half of the LEC, Vitality needs to start making up ground. Time is running out for them to catch the top pack.
G2 Esports
With G2 Esports, it’s a matter of when, and not if they show up. After some early inconsistencies, they came back strong in week three. Victories against Fnatic and Misfits saw them fend off two of their LEC rivals. This week will see them go up against unbeaten Rogue. G2 is likely to go 1-1 again this week. Though, if G2 can manage to pull off a win against Rogue, they’ll be within touching distance of the top spots.
The best of the rest
MAD Lions and Misfits are the “best of the rest” at the top end of the table. Currently, in joint 4th place in the table, the two need a good week. MAD face Fnatic and BDS, while Misfits will face Vitality and SK. Both sides would expect to win at least one of these. Though, MAD could look to catch out a struggling Fnatic.
At the bottom of the LEC, Astralis remain without a win, and that will likely continue. BDS has shown signs of life in the past weeks, but, next week, they’ll face MAD and G2 Esports. Which could put a dampener on their good run of form. Excel went 1-1 last week, though the signing of Mikyx has improved the roster. They face Rogue and Fnatic this week, so any win would be an upset. SK is last up, and they face Misfits and Astralis. The Astralis game is a must-win given how poor Astralis has looked. I wouldn’t bet on them to beat Misfits, yet.
