Rogue and Fnatic
The two top dogs of the LEC, sitting at 5-0 and atop the LEC table. Week three will see the pair face-off, meaning someone’s unbeaten run is about to come to an end. Thus far, it’s been hard to separate the two sides. Rogue’s recent win against MAD Lions makes them favourites.
Fnatic will face off against G2 Esports, so keeping their unbeaten run going will be a difficult task. It also means that Fnatic could end up coming away with an 0-2 week. This would create daylight between themselves and Rogue. It won’t be an easy week for Rogue, either. They face off against high-flying Vitality, who picked up two big wins in week two. Having lost all three matches in the opening week, week three is an important one for Vitality.
Vitality
A sigh of relief for everyone at Vitality. Having lost all three matches in week one, the “Super Team” picked up the pace in week two. With so much expectation, it was good to see them pick up two wins. They head into week three, they need to keep that momentum going. It’s an easier first game, facing off against SK Gaming, who sit joint eighth place. It gets a little tricker with game two, as they face off against unbeaten Rogue. Depending on how their game against Fnatic goes, Vitality could be in a position to hand Rogue an 0-2 week.
G2 Esports
A bad week for G2 Esports, having beaten SK Gaming, they failed to beat Vitality. That loss saw them drift away from the leading pack. It doesn’t get easier for G2 in week three, with a big game against Fnatic. Their week begins against Misfits, one of the sides chasing them in the table. G2 should be good enough to beat Misfits, it’s the Fnatic game that will be the test of this new G2 roster.
The Best of the Rest
MAD Lions should be in for a good week, facing off against XL and Misfits they’d expect to go 2-0. Misfits will face MAD and G2, two matches they’re not expected to win. If they manage to pull off even one win, it would prove their credentials as a team. As for the bottom for sides, a lot of them will play off against each other, so big gains are available. BDS and Astralis face off against two of the bottom four sides, in the esports equivalent of a 6 pointer.
Excel and SK will face their most important week so far. Excel will be aiming for at least one win, while SK needs to aim for 2-0 if they want to push on this split. It’s going to be an significant week for sites and both the top and bottom of the league.
