4.20 – Play 4 To Win At Betway All-Weather ‘Hands And Heels’ Apprentice Handicap (5f)
Last month’s C&D one-two Papas Girl and The Tron are likely to get involved once more but ASTROPHYSICS is preferred for trainer Tony Carroll. The veteran has been in good tune, placing at Wolverhampton in both December runs, and the form of his most recent start is strong, with the winner and fourth combining to win 3-3 starts subsequently.
Selection: Astrophysics @ 9/1
4.50 – Betway Casino Handicap (1m6f)
Beat The Breeze is a recent C&D winner holding his form and rates one of the likelier sorts but MUKHA MAGIC had three successive runner-up finishes – including here – prior to last week’s lesser effort around Newcastle. That run can be forgiven and this slight drop in trip should see him competitive again.
Selection: Mukha Magic @ 7/1
5.20 – Betway Handicap (1m4f)
Tom Collins ran well in fourth at Wolverhampton last time on his first go at this distance and should provide another solid account for an in-form William Haggas team here. He’s shortlisted but JOHNNY BOOM is worth chancing on his first start on the Flat for Brian Ellison. He won three times on turf over the summer and was edged out at Newcastle over 1m2f in September before leaving Richard Fahey. He didn’t shine over hurdles in November but should go well back in this code.
Selection: Johnny Boom @ 9/2
5.50 – MansionBet Beaten By A Head Handicap (1m)
TOTALLY CHARMING went clear in taking fashion at Kempton over a mile on Saturday evening when making a winning start for new trainer George Boughey. He’s also won over 1m1½f at Wolverhampton in July and, after just four runs, have plenty scope for better. Stamina is on his side too coming here and a 5lb penalty for that smooth weekend success may not prevent him following up.
Selection: Totally Charming @ 4/5
6.20 – MansionBet Proud Partners Of The AWC Classified Stakes Division 1 (1m)
Plenty of these have questions against them for now. Ranger Bob came in for market support at Newcastle last week on stable bow but failed to show anything. Not so the filly TWISTALINE who made a winning start for Mick Appleby at Lingfield over this mile trip in a handicap on the same day. The margin was slender but she had the majority of the field in front of her turning for home and she got there readily enough. On that evidence, she is a good candidate to follow up in this company.
Selection: Twistaline @ 5/6
6.20 – MansionBet Proud Partners Of The AWC Classified Stakes Division 2 (1m)
Dubai Elegance was an eye-catching third at Wolverhampton six days ago and the mare is good enough to play a leading role here if she builds on that now. CRAZY SPIN edges preference for trainer Ivan Furtado. She’s on a mark from which she is entitled to put her head in front and recent efforts over C&D and at Chelmsford suggest it won’t be long before she does just that.
Selection: Crazy Spin @ 11/4
7.20 – Play Coral Racing-Super-Series For Free Handicap (6f)
The feature race on the card. Harry Three is 2-2 in novice events at Kempton and goes handicapping with scope for further improvement but this opening mark is no gimme and the form of his latest success in November isn’t that appealing. FEARLESS ANGEL is the more proven option. She made a winning start on the all-weather at Wolverhampton on Boxing Day over 5f and her previous Listed form on the turf makes for good reading. There’s more substance to her form and she can make it 3-4 by bagging this first assignment in handicap company.
Selection: Fearless Angel @ 2/1
7.50 – BetYourWay At Betway Handicap (6f)
AL SUIL EILE has won at Southwell in the month of January in each of the last two years and he warmed up for his latest bit here with a good second at Wolverhampton eight days ago. He is now 6lb below his last win-mark and should be on the premises in this evening’s nightcap.
Selection: Al Suil Eile @ 7/2
