Venezia vs AC Milan – Over 2.5 Goals
Two sides with very different ambitions meet in Venice, as Venezia play host to AC Milan at the Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo in the early kick off in Serie A on Sunday.
Milan’s 3-1 win over Jose Mourinho’s Roma on Thursday put them within one point of leaders Inter, whilst Paulo Zanetti will be looking over his shoulder, with his side now just four points above the relegation zone.
Milan are the joint highest scorer’s on the road in serie A, with the Rossoneri finding the back of the net 24 times in their 10 matches, whilst Venezia have only failed to score in one of their nine matches at home.
Given Milan have conceded in eight of their last nine away from home and Venezia have kept only three clean sheets all season, there’s a decent chance both sides will score here and that should lead us to over 2.5 goals.
Empoli vs Sassuolo – Both Teams to Score
9th placed Empoli host 13th placed Sassuolo at the Stadio Carlo Castelloni in a meeting between two sides who are separated by just three points in the table.
Empoli couldn’t hold on for all three points at the Olimpico against Lazio, but it’s now just one defeat in seven for Aurelio Andreazzoli’s side, whilst the Neroverdi’s 1-1 draw with Genoa means it’s now four draws in the last six.
Empoli have managed to find the back of the net in 12 of their last 13 in Serie A, whilst Alessio Dionisi’s side have only failed to score once in their last 16 matches.
Given both sides rarely fail to net and that they’ve kept just five clean sheets between them this season, I’m more than happy to back both sides to score here in Tuscany.
Braga to Score 2+
Two sides at opposite ends of the Primeira Liga table go head to head at the Estádio Municipal de Braga, as Braga play host to Famalicão.
Braga come into matchday 17 just six points behind Lisbon giants Benfica in 3rd spot, whilst Famalicão are second from bottom and four points adrift of automatic safety.
Braga dismantled Arouca 0-6 last time in the league, with Carlos Carvalhal’s side winning six of their last eight, losing the other two against two of ‘The Big Three’ in Porto and Benfica.
Given that Braga have won five of their last six at home, scoring 15 goals, I’m happy to back them to score at least twice against a Famalicão side that’s conceded 2+ in 7/8 away from home in the league this season.
Inter vs Lazio – Over 2.5 Goals
Reining champions Inter will look to stay top of Serie A, as they host Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio at the San Siro on Sunday evening.
With Inter’s match with Bologna being called off on Thursday and city rivals Milan winning, Simone Inzaghi’s sides lead at the top of Serie A was cut to just one point, however they’ll come into this full of confidence, winning each of their last seven, scoring 20 goals.
Lazio failed to make it three wins on the bounce in Serie A and remain in 8th position following their dramatic 3-3 draw at home to Empoli on Thursday afternoon.
Both of these sides are amongst the three highest scorer’s in Serie A this season, scoring a whopping 91 goals between them and I’d be surprised if we don’t see goals here, meaning over 2.5 goals is the bet here.
