Though he hadn’t shown a lot in four starts previously for Owen Burrows, ALJARYAAL made an impressive stable bow for Joseph Parr over 1m4f at this track earlier in the month, showing a willing attitude to go and hunt down the leader in the home straight after that rival had pinched a handy advantage on the final bend. Never stronger than at the line, this lightly-raced 3YO should have more to come upped in trip.

4.30 – BetYourWay At Betway Handicap (1m4f)
This looks something of a match-up between PRETTY SWEET and Pallas Dancer, with preference for George Boughey’s Iffraaj filly. She’s got a win, four seconds and a third from seven starts and was unfortunate last time at Kempton when upped to this distance to go down to an improving rival getting almost a stone in weight. From an unchanged mark, Adam Kirby’s mount looks the one to be on.

NIGHT ON EARTH had three wins on turf for previous connections and he rattled home over C&D to be second on first start for Mick Appleby last month. He has since gone one better at Newcastle and a 3lb rise in the ratings might not be enough to prevent another score.

5.30 – Read Katie Walsh On Betway Insider Handicap (1m1½f)
Fitwood Star returns to action for Roger Teal and he’ll complete a remarkable four-timer if he can oblige, given the sequence started away back in 2018 and included two wins last winter. Hooflepuff was a C&D winner last month and should go well but ELIXSOFT was fourth in that race and might get much closer now if given solid pace to aim at and now being 4lb better off with that re-opposing rival.

6.00 – Play Coral Racing-Super-Series For Free EBF Fillies’ Handicap (1m½f)
Six runners and none would be crossed off in great confidence. A’shaari hasn’t been sighted since Royal Ascot but Charlie Appleby’s Dubawi filly remains lightly-raced and capable of better. For consistency, James Fanshawe’s mare SERENADING fits the bill. She’s a three-time all-weather winner, most recently at Newcastle over a mile in October, and has gone close again there since off this mark.

6.30 – MansionBet Best Odds Guaranteed Median Auction Maiden Stakes (7f)
WONDER ELMOSSMAN has started to prove costly for his supporters to follow, as he has returned from the racecourse with silver medals in four of his five career starts. He didn’t do a lot wrong in a Lingfield novice last time when clear second behind an improving Mobashr and he probably won’t find himself a better opening than this one to get on the scoresheet.

7.00 – MansionBet Proud Partners Of AWC Handicap Division 1 (7f)
A winner over C&D last December, DESERT DREAM returns now having run a pleasing fourth of 12 at Catterick last month over 6f on soft ground on his return from a short break. He’s rated 5lb lower than for that Dunstall Park success last year and is re-united with Cieren Fallon here. If he builds on that turf run, this trip and track are positives for him.

7.30 – MansionBet Proud Partners Of AWC Handicap Division 2 (7f)
Strategic Fortune went close on debut for this yard at Kempton last month under Adam Kirby but he didn’t replicate that over C&D since. He’s on a workable mark if reverting to that initial showing for John Butler. Bomb Squad and MAJOR VALENTINE were first and fourth over 6f at Kempton last month (second won next time) and on these revised terms perhaps John O’Shea’s charge is underestimated. He’s yet to win over this far, but he’s not had many chances beyond 6f and he saw that trip out well last time.
