Scottish Football expert Mark Walker takes a look at this weekend’s best bets in the Premiership and beyond.
Ross County v Hibernian
ROSS COUNTY got the monkey off their backs with their first league win in considerable style in midweek and can add to Hibs’ recent miseries at a good price in Dingwall.
Malky Mackay’s men hammered Dundee at Dens Park in midweek in a 5-0 romp to get their first win and to be fair to the Staggies, it had been coming for a while.
They have been playing well recently without getting rewards, mostly due to some dubious defending. But they tightened up against Dundee and produced a stunning win.
Next up is a Hibs team that have seriously gone off the rails recently.
Four league defeats is unprecedented under Jack Ross, who is feeling the heat from unhappy Hibees.
Hibs have too many players not on their game and teams have worked out if you stop Martin Boyle from playing, you stop Hibs.
It doesn’t help that Kevin Nesbit has gone hugely off the boil, to put it kindly. And 29/10 for a County win seems excellent value.
St Mirren v Dundee
ST MIRREN can add to Dundee’s despair at odds-against when they meet in Paisley.
Dundee’s shambolic defence was exposed by a rampant Ross County side in midweek as discussed above. In truth, James McPake’s side have looked out of their depth in the Premiership for most of the season.
They have won only once all season in the league and have collected one solitary point from their five away games in the league.
St Mirren proved their mettle with a fine comeback against Motherwell in midweek when they looked down and out at 2-0 down.
And in-form Eamonn Brophy should relish a crack at this Dundee defence at the moment.
Airdrieonians v Alloa
AIRDRIE won an incredible game last week and could be value again to beat Barry Ferguson’s Alloa.
The Diamonds edged a staggering game against eight-man Dumbarton last week with goals flying in everywhere at the death.
Perhaps they were fortunate, but they still made it five wins out of six in League One, They could even top the league this weekend with first and second playing when Queen’s Park travel to Cove Rangers.
Alloa were involved in a disappointing midweek Challenge Cup defeat to Rangers B where a full team was put out by manager Ferguson and they still lost to kids.
And a fresh Airdrie could take advantage at 29/20 in Clackmannanshire
Scottish Tips
- Ross County 29/10
- St Mirren 11/10
- Airdrie 29/20
