Borussia Dortmund travel to Istanbul to take on Besiktas in one of the two early kick-offs on Wednesday. Besiktas return to the group stages of the Champions League by winning the Süper Lig whereas Dortmund qualified by finishing third in the Bundesliga.
Besiktas defeated Yeni Malatyaspor 3-0 on Saturday to go top of the Süper Lig on goal difference. Besiktas have yet to concede in their first four games and have scored seven goals in their three home games but Dortmund are a class above all those teams they’ve faced. Besiktas have scored in their last 21 home games in the league so certainly know where the back of the net is in their own stadium.
Dortmund come into this after defeating Bayer Leverkusen 3-4 in a thrilling encounter on Saturday afternoon. All six of Borussia Dortmund’s games have went over 2.5 goals this season with an incredible 29 goals being scored. In Dortmund’s run to last years Quarter Finals, all five of their away matches went over 2.5 goals goals with 18 goals being scored.
Manchester City vs RB Leipzig

Manchester City take on RB Leipzig at the Ethian on Wednesday evening. City will look to go one better this year after being beaten by Chelsea in the final. Leipzig meanwhile will be looking to qualify from the group stages once more this year.
Man City recored a good 0-1 victory away to Leicester on Saturday to make it three wins on the bounce after an opening day defeat at Spurs. Prior to that, City had won home games against Norwich and Arsenal with a 5-0 score line which should strike fear into Leipzig. Man City had a perfect home record on route to reaching the final last season, winning all six games and scoring a minimum of two goals on each occasion.
It’s been a difficult start for new Leipzig coach Jesse Marsch and that was further illustrated as they were thumped 1-4 at home to Bayern Munich. That’s now three defeats from four at the start of the season, losing both away matches to Mainz and Wolfsburg. Leipzig lost three of their four games away games in last years edition of the Champions League including both visits to England with Liverpool winning 2-0 and rivals Manchester United thumping them 5-0.

If Dortmund’s games this season are anything to go by, we should goals when they travel to Istanbul. With Erling Haaland leading the line, Dortmund will be confident of scoring goals, however, they do concede plenty too and Besiktas will also be confident of breaching their backline. Both sides are capable of scoring and that should lead us to seeing at least 3 goals. Man City should start their Champions League campaign with a comfortable victory over a Leipzig side who have had an extremely poor start to the season and don’t tend to travel too well.
