1.15 – MansionBet Bet 10 Get 20 Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Chase Division 1 (2m7f)
Head On made a winning chasing debut over this C&D three weeks ago for the Ian Williams team and has valid claims of doubling up having been raised 4lb.
Behind in fifth that afternoon was TERRARFIRMA LADY for trainer Alan King. The mare had earlier showed improved form in her efforts over hurdles at this venue and Uttoxeter.
If she builds on that initial chasing experience, it’s certainly not beyond the realms she can overturn a 5½-length deficit today.
Selection: Terrafirma Lady @ 5/1
1.45 – MansionBet Bet 10 Get 20 Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Chase Division 2 (2m7f)
This doesn’t look to be the strongest contest and it might be worthwhile giving a chance to TOM O’ROUGHLEY on chasing introduction for Alistair Ralph and Jack Tudor.
The Yeats gelding is 0-8 thus far but recent hurdles runs at this venue and Uttoxeter have been more positive. From a low rating of 76, if he takes to chasing he can have a say in the finish here.
Selection: Tom O’Roughley @ 7/1
2.20 – MansionBet Watch And Bet Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase (2m4f)
JEMIMA P has taken another hike from the assessor but it remains hard to go against Emma Lavelle’s charge given the form she was in earlier in the year. After a wind operation, the mare won 3-4 starts, including a 16-length score over this C&D in early May.
She was raised 11lb for that win, but it didn’t prevent another decisive score at Ffos Las late in the same month. Back from a break, she looks the one to beat again.
Selection: Jemima P @ 11/8
2.50 – Cazoo Handicap Chase (2m½f)
The alliance of Fergal O’Brien and Paddy Brennan is once more in thriving form lately and they have just one runner on the card at Worcester today, BATHIVA.
The seven-year-old joined this stable last winter and has won three of his four starts since, finishing second at Stratford on his only blemish.
He was partnered by Brennan for wins Uttoxeter (2m, good) in June and over C&D last month and they are fancied to make it 3-3 together by defying a 5lb rise in the ratings now.
Selection: Bathiva @ 2/1
3.25 – MansionBet Best Odds Guaranteed Open NH Flat Race (2m)
Fifrelet was runner-up over C&D 22 days ago and will have good prospects of going one better if in the same mood now. That came after a long layoff however and perhaps there’s a worry if he can repeat it on second start back.
Newcomer FINE BY ME represents Nigel and Sam Twiston-Davies in the trainer’s own colours and the son of St Leger winner Kingston Hill looks a likely sort for this test on paper.
He could go in for a yard that typically does well with bumper runners.
Selection: Fine By Me @ 10/3
4.00 – Cazoo Handicap Hurdle (2m7f)
The Warren Greatrex-trained DRUMLEE WATAR should set a stern test in front for his rivals here.
He won three on the bounce post wind surgery this summer, including over C&D in July, before a noble third at Bangor last month, where he was collared only late on by the market principles and was beaten under a length.
He races from the same mark here, while Caoilin Quinn returns in the saddle and claims a handy 7lb.
Selection: Drumlee Watar @ 9/2
4.35 – MansionBet Beaten By A Head Maiden Hurdle (2m)
LUTTRELL LAD posted figures of 2114 in bumpers last season, winning at Market Rasen and Taunton before a fair run in a Grade 2 contest at Aintree in April.
On that basis, he’s got plenty ability and should take some stopping here as he commences his hurdles career for trainer Philip Hobbs.
Of those with jumping experience, Whistleinthedark shaped with some promise at Exeter (2m2½f, soft) back in February and may post a danger on his return to action.
Selection: Luttrell Lad @ 4/11
