IT’S a huge night for Rangers at Ibrox as they attempt to make it to the group stages of the Champions League.
A 95th minute goal by Steven Davis put a different complexion on the tie last week when he halved Malmo’s lead to make it 2-1 with just about the last kick of the ball. That means the Gers need to win by two goals to progress and of course have the potential advantage of an extra 30 minutes on their own turf if they’re just one goal ahead after 90 minutes.
The bookies aren’t taking any chances on a full house at Ibrox roaring Rangers over the line and have priced Steven Gerrard’s side at 9/20 to win inside the 90 minutes and a slightly more palatable 3/4 to qualify. The Swedish champions are 1/1 to progress.
Extra-time is a distinct possibility now that the away goals rule has been eradicated. A one-goal win for Rangers will see that eventuality and can be backed at 13/5.
Gers fan Greg Maclean is in no doubt that Rangers will get the win they need as they feature as one half of his Bet of the Day Double.
Polish referee, Szymon Marciniak, often finds himsef centre of attention and the Ibrox crowd might get to him tonight. He consistently brandishes lots of cards, averaging 4+ in each of his last three seasons and dishing out 5 or more in 46% of last season’s games.
5.0 cards in the Asian Handicap is 1.825 (money back if exactly five cards) at Bet365 or you can get 4/6 on there being 30+ Malmo card points.
Midtjylland face an uphill struggle to turn around their first leg defeat against PSV. The Danes trail 3-0 after being outclassed in Eindhoven and could be beaten again as they chase goals to get back in the tie. PSV can be backed at 19/20.
Slavia Prague are another side with work to do at home. A 2-0 defeat at Ferencvaros means they’ll need to score three to qualify. They’re as short as 2/5 to win the match but it’s the Hungarians who are favourites to qualify at 1/2. If you fancy Slavia to win you might as well back them to qualify at 6/4.
In the Eruropa Conference League Rosenborg trounced Domzale 6-1 in the first leg in Trondheim and are generously priced at 4/5 to win again.
There are 27 Carabao Cup matches and eight Scottish Challenge Cup on Tuesday’s fixture list – good luck if you’re getting involved in those.
Team news will be crucial before placing your bets but the likes of Cardiff, Sheffield United & Queen’s Park should be solid bets against lower ranked opposition. The Treble pays 163/100 at Bet365.
