The Euro 2020 final will be competed between England and Italy and the home fans will be desperate to see their side lift the trophy on Sunday evening. Despite receiving plenty of criticism for their performance against Scotland earlier in the tournament, Gareth Southgate has quickly between a national hero and he will be looking to complete the job in front of home support.
England needed extra time to edge past Denmark on Wednesday night, but in truth, they looked like the only side who were likely to win it during the additional 30 minutes. They have an excellent blend of talents in the squad with the combination of Declan Rice and Kalvin Phillips having been sensational in the centre of the park.
At the back, Harry Maguire and John Stones have barely put a foot wrong and England are yet to concede a goal from open play this tournament.
Italy needed penalties to overcome Spain on Tuesday night and Roberto Mancini’s men have barely put a foot wrong since thrashing Turkey on the opening weekend. They’ve had to take a different approach to their various matches and were forced to dig in and defend deep against Belgium in order to protect their one goal lead.
Although they aren’t getting any younger, the combination of Chiellini and Bonucci is still incredibly effective and they will make it difficult for Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling to buzz around undetected. Neither of these sides are easy to beat, and although this final is likely to be very absorbing, both teams will be wary of giving too much away.
As a result, it might be best to back this game to finish all-square after 90 minutes.
