Scottish Football expert Mark Walker presents his best bets in the Premiership and championship north of the border.
Queen of the South v Alloa Athletic
QUEEN OF THE SOUTH are one of the form teams of Scottish football yet have slipped under the radar and they can make it five wins in a row with victory over Alloa in Dumfries.
Alloa are the only team who have defeated them in South’s last 11 games and Allan Johnston has done magnificently to completely change a side who were going nowhere and flirting with relegation to genuine promotion play-off challengers.
They’ve produced some impressive results and displays and none more so than last week when they trailed 2-0 at Arbroath’s Gayfield and turned it around to win 4-2.
Even more impressive is the fact they have managed this mostly without talisman Stephen Dobbie, who is used more as a sub, with Ayo Obileye on five goals in his last seven games and Connor Shields netting eight goals in eight games.
Alloa have one win in 12 and the evens on offer for the Palmerston Park side should be snapped up.
Dundee v Arbroath
DUNDEE are the great underachievers of the Championship this season, but odds of 5/6 for a home game with Arbroath are too good to turn down.
Manager James McPake continues to lead something of a charmed life despite being 18 points behind Hearts and currently out of the play-off positions.
However, they have only lost once this season at Dens Park and it seems to be their away form that shows them up.
With a squad that includes Jason Cummings, Paul McMullan, Danny Mullen and the league’s best player Charlie Adam, who should be back today, it’s a nonense they are in mid-table.
Arbroath had picked up recently but crashed to that defeat by Queen of the South last week and Dundee have to be winning games like these just to make the play-offs.
Livingston v Hamilton
HAMILTON ACCIES look a massive price to beat a Livingston side on the slide.
These are the type of games Accies will target as they once again plot a great escape and the 21/4 can’t be ignored against the West Lothian side who have lost five of their last six games which included the League Cup Final.
Hamilton have only lost once in their last six games and that was at Hibs where they had to play 78 minutes with ten men. They will be right up for this and look seriously underestimated.
