Hibernian v Aberdeen
DEREK McINNES badly needs a victory at Easter Road today to stop a slump that has seen Aberdeen win just one of their last seven games.
That dismal run has allowed Hibs to jump above them into third place and the Dons are now looking nervously over their shoulder at a Livingston side in red-hot form.
I fancied Livi’s incredible unbeaten run to end at Pittodrie in midweek but instead David Martindale’s men eased to a 2-0 victory.
That has piled pressure on McInnes in the race for a European slot but he can at least take heart from his side’s recent record against Hibs.
They have come out on top in the last three meetings, including a 1-0 win in the capital earlier this season, and McBookie price an Aberdeen victory today at 15/8.
Hibs are favourites at 6/4 with the draw paying 9/4 but I’m staying clear of backing a result.
The last two clashes between the sides have seen under 2.5 strikes but a repeat here pays just 8/13 with McBookie so I’m going to back both teams to score instead at 20/21.
Aberdeen may have drawn a blank in their last three games but McInnes brought in three strikers on deadline day – Fraser Hornby, Florian Kamberi and Callum Hendry.
That will boost their firepower significantly and the Dons have scored in seven of their last eight clashes with the Hibees.
There’s very little between these sides and the game may take a while to warm up so it could pay to back a half-time draw at 21/20 with Bet365.
A penalty settled the last meeting of these sides at Easter Road and McBookie are offering a decent 14/5 on a spot-kicked being awarded here.
Livingston v St Johnstone
Betfred Cup finalists Livingston and St Johnstone clash in a tasty one at the Tony Macaroni today.
Both teams are in form with Livi still unbeaten under Martindale and Saints seeing their seven-match run without defeat end with a 1-0 loss at Ibrox in midweek.
It’s another game that should be tight and I’m drawn once more to a half-time stalemate which pays a best 39/40 at SBK.
Any victory is likely to be by a one-goal margin and that bet is priced 6/5 by McBookie.
Celtic v Motherwell
Celtic kept a rare clean sheet in midweek as they beat Kilmarnock 4-0, frustrating me as I had backed BTTS at Rugby Park.
Having Kris Ajer back at centre half and Shane Duffy sitting on the bench was a major reason for shutting Killie out and the
Hoops are 29/20 (McBookie) for another win to nil at home to Motherwell this afternoon.
Well have picked up under new boss Graham Alexander but have scored just one goal on their last five visits to Parkhead.
Celtic midfielder David Turnbull will be up against his former club and is a tempting 13/5 with Paddy Power to haunt the Steelmen with a goal.
Hamilton v Rangers
Rangers’ title procession takes them to Hamilton tomorrow with Accies as big as 28/1 with SBK for a shock win.
I’ve cashed in by backing a Rangers win to nil in their last two games but it’s not great value here at just 8/13 with McBookie.
So I’m going to bet on Steven Gerrard’s men to win both halves instead at 10/11 with SportingIndex.
St Mirren v Kilmarnock
Killie were poor against Celtic in midweek so you have to fancy St Mirren to beat them in Paisley.
The Buddies are evens at McBookie which is well worth a punt while under 2.5 goals also appeals at 3/4 with the same firm.
Ross County v Dundee Utd
Dundee United’s dismal run continued with defeat at Fir Park on Wednesday and they now head to Dingwall where Ross County look good value at 11/8 (McBookie) to win.
Abroath v Dunfermline
Dunfermline crushed Raith in midweek and are 20/21 for a win at Arbroath today.
It could be tough in bad weather so I’m drawn to under 2.5 goals in this one at 5/6 (McBookie).
Alloa v Queen of the South
I fancy Queen of the South at 11/8 for a win at Alloa while a draw could be the best shout (21/10, McBookie) as Morton host Raith.
