I mentioned last week that Frankie came to ride work at Charlie Fellowes’ before his ride on Enable in the Arc. He rode a filly called Atailof Two Cities and he clearly had the magic touch! I won on her this week up at Catterick by 22 lengths – I don’t think I’ve ever won a race by such a large distance. I’m hoping for more of the same this weekend!
Friday – Kempton
4.30 – Lhebayeb
I think Lhebayeb is quite a big price at 40/1
. She ran a nice race behind a very useful winner at Wolverhampton on her latest start and she’ll take a big step forward from that run. I’ve spoken to Paul and he is positive about her chances. I’m going to ride her positively and hope she sees out this extra furlong.
5.05 – Luckiness
Luckiness (11/4
) has a good chance of backing up his latest win here. I’ve not actually ridden him before but I’ve studied his two races so far. There looks to be plenty of pace in the race so I should get a nice lead into the race. I am hopeful of him going very close.
5.40 – Ronan Accuser
This is Ronan Accuser’s (17/2
) first run on a racecourse and he should improve plenty for whatever he does today. He is drawn wide so we’ll be forced to probably drop him in and hope for a good early pace. He’ll be doing his best work late.
7.15 – Clever Candy
Clever Candy (11/1
) has had a good season and clearly thrives at Kempton having won and been placed here this season. Again, we’ve not got a great draw in 12. Her mark is quite high but she has place chances.
Saturday – Chelmsford
4.08 – Ammayya
Ammayya’s third place on her latest start was a good run. She’ll have learned plenty from that run I reckon and will be much sharper for it. I think the extra furlong will also help her and if she doesn’t win tomorrow then I think she’ll find a race very soon.
4.45 – Rochford
I’m very happy to keep the ride on Rochford. I won on him at 50/1 at Yarmouth on his latest start. This is a very different track and surface though. He’s a hold-up horse so will need some luck but he’s only gone up 3lbs for his win and he is more than capable of winning again.
7.00 Triple Spear
Triple Spear is a horse I rode at Chester a couple of starts back. He is a horse with plenty of speed. He is perhaps still a bit high in the weights but Michael is an excellent trainer so I’m sure he’ll run a good race.
7.30 – Physics
Frustratingly, this is another of my rides this weekend who has got a poor draw. He won last time out and is very tough but being drawn 14 of 14 over 6f at Chelmsford is far from ideal!
Sunday – Goodwood
1.15 – Kashi
Kashi ran a nice race on debut but hasn’t shown a huge amount since then. Andrew has put first time cheekpieces on him and this soft ground will be a new experience for him. Those two factors might well bring out some improvement in him – Andrew is very good at getting horses to win and hopefully this will be another!
2.55 – Onassis
I’m thrilled that they have managed to keep this race on – it was meant to be at Ascot last week but due to the rain, that meeting was abandoned. She is in brilliant form at home – I rode her this week and I couldn’t be happier with her. She’s the highest rated horse in the race and will like the track. She’s so uncomplicated too. Onassis really has been my favourite horse to ride this season. Fingers crossed she can win again here to cap a brilliant season for her.
