GABRIEL JESUS’ late clincher for Man City made it 44 Premier League goals over the weekend – a record since it went to 20 teams and hopefully there will be more of the same this weekend.
Fans usually profit from goals and it was 10-man Sheffield United’s failure to net at Aston Villa that beat my double. Losing a player after 12 minutes didn’t help.
Tuesday sees the first three Champions League final round qualifiers – and remember these games are played over two legs.
Krasnodar take on PAOK, Red Bull Salzburg travel to Maccabi Tel Aviv and Slavia Prague entertain Midtjylland. Should be wins for Krasnodar and Red Bull and Slavia could take a home lead to Denmark.
Russia aces Krasnodar have hit 10 in two games and are always strong at home while PAOK aren’t the world’s greatest travellers.
Salzburg are miles better than Maccabi and their superior firepower should lead them to a win.
Team news is vital for the five EFL Cup ties with most if not all managers making wholesale changes.
Games include Orient vs Spurs, West Ham vs Hull and Luton vs Man United. The big guns should win but if possible see line-ups before having a bet. Orient’s game is in doubt though after some of their players tested positive and the tie could be awarded to Spurs who are in Europa League action on Thursday.
Things haven’t been great at West Ham and after starting with two losses David Moyes leads the Premier League sack race with Ladbrokes going 2-1. They didn’t play badly against Arsenal and felt hard done by as they crashed 2-1 but the table doesn’t lie.
An EFL Cup run isn’t the Hammers’ priority but victory against Luton might buy the manager some time and I’m sure he’ll put out a strong enough side to get the job done. As I said if you doubt the Hammers don’t include them until teams are confirmed.
I watched a bit of Hashtag United vs Soham Town on Monday and there are dozens of FA Cup qualifiers on Tuesday for anyone with non-league knowledge. Hashtag’s story is an interesting and they dramatically won on penalties to launch a new chapter in their short history.
