FNATIC vs SCHALKE 04 LEC SUMMER BETTING PREVIEW
The opening day of the upcoming League of Legends European Championship (LEC) Super Week will feature several exciting fixtures, yet the clash between seven-time champions Fnatic and the surging Schalke 04 will surely take centre stage.
Schalke 04 are on a similar path as they were in the LEC 2020 Spring, where they were 1-7 four weeks in but mustered up a 5-5 run to end the season in eighth place. This time Schalke were 1-10 after five weeks, but they have since won four games in a row to give themselves a slim chance of scraping into the LEC Summer playoffs.
Due to their poor start to the split, Schalke don’t have full control of their destiny. If Erberk “Gillius” Demir and his crew manage to win their remaining three matches against Fnatic, Team Vitality and MAD Lions, their probability of making it to the postseason would jump from 9.7% to 72.7%. On the other end, a loss this Friday would reduce their chances to a mere 0.59%, effectively ending their miracle run.
Much of Schalke’s resurgence is due to the phenomenal performances of jungler Gillius, who has accumulated a 27/7/24 record in his last four games including a 10/1/8 against G2 Esports. We also can’t forget to mention Felix “Abbedagge” Braun, who has held his own against some of the best European mid laners while outclassing the likes of Erlend “Nukeduck” Våtevik Holm, Fabian “Febiven” Diepstraten and even Rasmus “Caps” Borregaard Winther.

Hoping to stop Schalke’s miracle run will be Fnatic, who have not looked their usual selves this split. While there is a general consensus in the LoL community that Fnatic always find a way to reach the postseason and contest the title no matter how ordinary their form is, it seems like the LEC 2020 Summer might be different.
It’s somewhat shocking to see Fnatic struggle so much since they still field some of the brightest talents in the league. However, looking at how they play, the team clearly lack the coordination and synergy they once were known for.
While losing Mads “Broxah” Brock-Pedersen to the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) shook up the roster, it’s hard to argue Oskar “Selfmade” Boderek is the issue. The Polish jungler is one of the most impactful players on the roster, but even his contributions aren’t enough to save Fnatic from making silly mistakes.
Fnatic are 1-3 from their last four, which includes a humiliating defeat to G2 Esports last Saturday and very concerning losses to MAD Lions and Rogue. Some of their struggles are due to the inconsistent form of Zdravets “Hylissang” Iliev Galabov, but the main problem is the lack of coordination and cohesion.
FNATIC vs SCHALKE 04 LEC SUMMER BETTING PREDICTIONS
Fnatic have a big advantage in terms of individual quality, but Schalke 04 have looked every bit as potent over the past two weeks and might even have the edge with a strong draft.
Schalke’s recent resurgence is the result of improved macro play and strong synergy as well as good individual form. While it might be a case of too little, too late, S04 are riding a big wave that will be hard to stop.
Schalke are in for an uphill battle, but we don’t count on Fnatic having an easy time either. Both teams are known to be fairly aggressive, so we can expect a bloody match with plenty of kills across the board. There is every chance S04 could spring an upset, but we reckon the overs on the total kills line of 25.5 is the safer bet.
