It will be hot and fast, with firm ground forecast. Our tipster has selections below for each race.
2.10 – British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes (5f)
A weak sprint to begin affairs and this looks a good chance for VEDUTE to get on the scoreboard. He showed promise on debut at Newmarket in June and has since finished second in both starts at Haydock and Chepstow. Quick ground is fine and he won’t get a better opportunity.
Tip: Vedute @ 11/10
2.40 – visitbath.co.uk Maiden Fillies’ Stakes (5½f)
Once more, this is a race lacking a lot of depth and it likely boils down to AL DAWODIYA and Spinacia to battle it out. The former has some decent form lately in handicaps and should be able to take advantage of this opportunity. Spinacia would have claims on her Windsor reappearance in June but hasn’t matched that in either start since.
Tip: Al Dawodiya @ 4/7
3.10 – Best Free Tips At valuerater.co.uk Handicap (5½f)
He isn’t a prolific winner by any standards (1-23) but PRINCELY arrives here on the back of a good second over C&D 35 days ago and races from an unchanged mark this afternoon. Rossa Ryan’s mount can go one better with a repeat performance and account for champion jockey Oisin Murphy, who rides likely favourite Zulu Zander.
Tip: Princely @ 7/2
3.40 – Sky Sports Racing Sky 415 Handicap (5f)
Bottom-weight in this handicap over five furlongs goes to JAGANORY for trainer Chris Mason and he’s got leading claims despite being 1lb out of the handicap. An experienced campaigner, he’s finished in the money on a third of 76 career starts on turf and this Bath regular has four career wins over 5f/5½f at this track.
He’s been in good recent form and the 7lb claimed by Tyler Heard isn’t underestimated here; with the rider in a rich vein of form with three wins from six starts lately.
Tip: Jaganory @ 11/1
4.10 – bath.co.uk Handicap (1m)
Mark Johnston’s record at Bath is a decent one; with the Middleham handler boasting a 23 per-cent strike-rate here down the years and he can add to that with a double on the card today. ROBERT GUISCARD improved for the application of blinkers when second at Yarmouth last time and may go one better now if the headgear works a second time.
Tip: Robert Guiscard @ 5/2
4.40 – attheraces.com Handicap (1m2f)
The Johnston team are hard to oppose here as OVERWRITE bids to follow up an excellent second at Glorious Goodwood on Saturday. It looked as if Thomas Greatrex had done everything right on him there, hitting the front inside the furlong-marker only for Cieren Fallon and Muraad to sweep by late. He’s officially got 4lb in hand today and, assuming the quick turnaround isn’t an issue, will take halting.
Tip: Overwrite @ 8/11
5.10 – visitbath.co.uk Fillies’ Handicap (1m2f)
Rock Of Fame desperately deserves a change of fortune having been beaten a short-head in both recent runs but there may be more of that to come as LOVERS’ GAIT is fancied to have her measure now. Daniel Kubler’s daughter of Gleneagles was much-improved when dominating over C&D 19 days ago for a decisive success and may defy the handicapper to repeat the dose now.
Tip: Lovers’ Gait @ 6/1
5.40 – Sky Sports Racing Virgin 535 Handicap (1m6f)
The final race on the card and perhaps the best chance of the day to find a winner as LISMORE looks a stayer worth following for Sir Mark Prescott on the back of her impressive two-mile win at Chepstow last time out. She had plenty in hand and probably achieved more than Ripon winner Lord Warburton; her chief mark rival in this finale.
Tip: Lismore @ 10/11
