It’s another bonanza of midweek action in the Premier League and the standout clash is most certainly Chelsea’s hosting of Manchester City on Thursday night.
Chelsea are battling it out with a number of teams for a coveted top four spot, while Manchester City are hoping to finish the season on a high despite the looming presence of a Liverpool side poised to snatch their Premier League title away from the Etihad.
Not only that, but with a ban on European competition (pending appeal) this could very well be something of a last hurrah for many of Man City’s star players and staff.

The Belgian maestro scored in the first match back after lockdown and has found the net in three of his last six competitive appearances. He also scored in Manchester City’s 2-1 win over Chelsea at the Etihad back in November, so he could come back to haunt his former club again here.
Meanwhile, The Citizens as a whole have averaged 2.33 goals per away game in the Premier League this season and Chelsea’s defence is far from a solid looking lineup. We personally fancy a 2-1 scoreline, which falls in nicely with this bet.
Phil Foden to have 2 or more shots on target

Boy-wonder Phil Foden is finally starting to get some game time under Pep Guardiola. The 20-year-old midfielder has been touted as the future of England and as the most talented player Guardiola has ever worked with, and let’s be honest the Spanish manager has plenty of incredible players to look back on.
Foden has now scored three goals in his two appearances since the Premier League restart and so far this season has averaged a shot every 37.3 minutes for club and country this season. His 16 Premier League appearances, mainly from the bench, have seen him strike the ball on target every 51 minutes, and with his foot now firmly in the door you would expect Foden to test the Chelsea goalkeeper on Thursday.

Manchester City have absolutely dominated the corner count for the last few seasons, and this year is no different. They have won a massive 240 corners in their 30 games so far, and the only other team in the top flight to break the 200 barrier is none other than Chelsea.
Man City and Chelsea average 8.00 and 6.93 corners per game respectively, and they tend to be broken up fairly evenly between halves. Manchester City pick up 3.47 corners per game in the first half and the remaining 4.53 in the second half, while Chelsea win 3.37 per game in the first half and 3.56 after the break. A good, solid value bet.

Another very solid looking value offering. We’ve already discussed Manchester City’s extraordinary corner count, so with an average of 8.00 corners per game it’s certainly a good shout that they’ll trot to the corner flag six or more times on Thursday.
In terms of goals, Manchester City have averaged 2.33 goals per away game in the Premier League this season and have netted at least twice in ten of their last 14 home and away. They have notched at least two in three of their last five meetings with Chelsea and face a Blues side that have shipped two or more in eight competitive home games this season.
Kevin De Bruyne to score, 4+ corners for each team & Mateo Kovacic to be carded – 30/1
Kevin De Bruyne is an excellent shout to come back and haunt his former club, scoring in three of his last six competitive appearances and finding the net in Manchester City’s 2-1 win over Chelsea earlier this season.
Then we get to the corners, which we’ve already discussed in some detail. Manchester City and Chelsea are the two leading corner winners in the Premier League and the only clubs to have topped the 200 mark this season. They average 8.00 and 6.93 corners per game respectively, so expect to see a lot of set piece action.
Mateo Kovacic is one of Chelsea’s most ill-disciplined players as well, lagging behind only Jorginho in the yellow card count. The tough-tackling Croatian has been reprimanded in nine of his 30 domestic appearances this season and four of his Premier League bookings have come in his 12 appearances at Stamford Bridge. This looks a fantastic bet at 30/1!
