IT’S the big one on Sunday as title rivals Liverpool try to storm nine points clear of Man City.
With just 12 games gone it wouldn’t be game over but Jurgen Klopp’s men would be massive favourites to go all the way.
Liverpool have lost just once to City at Anfield once in 38 years and the Reds are unbeaten at home in 47 games.
Pep Guardiola has suffered at the hands of old foe Klopp with four defeats and two draws in eight meetings including a Champions League KO but two 0-0s in the last three meetings suggest he’s learning how to stop the leaders.
While I fancy Liverpool to win at a biggest 7-4 with McBookie a draw is possible as in many ways it would suit both sides.
City don’t want to fall nine adrift while the Reds will be happy to maintain their six-point lead – ecstatic to make it nine. The draw is 11-4 at Betway with no scorer paying 14-1 at bet365.
An away is unlikely but pays just 33-20 at Marathonbet and I can’t work out why City are favourites.
Both sides rested players for midweek Champions League ties with Sadio Mane one of those given a break by Klopp.
Mane has been his main man this season, heading last weekend’s late winner at Aston Villa, and is 5-1 at Ladbrokes to score first.
For City Sergio Aguero is always a threat but I’m backing Raheem Sterling to net against his former side at 2-1 with McBookie.
Today’s big game is the 5.30pm kick-off between top-four contenders Leicester and Arsenal.
The flying Foxes could end the weekend in second place and they’re so hot bookies make them no bigger than 11-10 to beat the Gunners at home for third time in succession.
Brendan Rodgers’men have won four in a row since losing at Liverpool while Arsenal’s last four have been score draws including that amazing 5-5 at Anfield.
Goals look a given here and I like Leicester and over 2.5 at 7-4 with Betfred.
Jamie Vardy has scored eight goals in eight Premier League starts against Arsenal and is the Premier League’s top scorer with 10. Vardy is 7-2 at Unibet to score first and 10-11 to net.
Arsenal’s biggest threat will come from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who is 7-5 at Ladbrokes to celebrate being made captain with a goal.
Burnley were battered by Sheffield United last week but should bounce back by beating a West Ham side who fared even worse as they crashed at home to Newcastle. A home win looks a decent price at 13-10 with bet365.
Chelsea’s midweek Champions League tie with Ajax was thrill-a-minute and I fancy them to beat Crystal Palace with both teams scoring in the early game. That pay 15-8 at Betfred.
Best bets in the Championship could be second-placed Preston at home to Huddersfield at 5-6 with Betway. Preston players should react positively to the failure of Stoke to nick their manager Alex Neil.
There are no League One and League Two games due to the FA Cup and plenty of potential in those ties for big accas if you can avoid the shocks.
I like League Two leaders Forest Green at home to Billericay and Blackpool against near neighbours Morecambe. Ipswich should beat Lincoln at home if they go close to full strength.
Recommended Bets
- Leicester & over 2.5 goals
- Vardy to score first
- Chelsea & Btts
- Liverpool
- Mane to score
- Preston
- Ipswich
