VAR’S been a curse of a few bets this summer but on Monday it helped plenty of punters get over the line.
USA Women needed two penalties to see off Spain and reach the last 16 – and the second looked extremely soft.
England Under-21s were the second part of my double and three times they threw away a lead to finish with a 3-3 draw against Croatia. Cashout or cover was available late on when they led 3-2.
France v Romania was flagged up as a likely draw – maybe even 0-0 – with both sides through and well done to everyone who tipped that including Scott with his members bet and well done to all the winners.
On Tuesday we have two more women’s last-16 games – Italy v China and Holland v Japan – but nothing at Copa America so the focus could be on the Africa Cup of Nations and Gold Cup or it could be a no-bet day.
My original plan for June was to leave out points and the closer I get to the break-even line the less likely I am to put up more tips. Haven’t yet decided whether to do points for July as there will be some competitive European and Scottish qualifiers in the second half of the month as well as the Scottish Open and The Open golf and I’ll be watching those two with interest.
