LESSON learned. Never back against Liverpool, never write them off. If they’re 4-0 down with five minutes to go back them to win 5-4.
The Reds’ comeback to KO Barcelona and reach the Champions League Final was simple extraordinary. Like many others I gave them no chance of overcoming a 3-0 deficit without Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino.
Then they lost another key player in Andrew Robertson at half-time. So to win 4-0 against an outstanding side with arguably the best player in Lionel Messi was unbelievable.
So will Liverpool be facing Ajax or Spurs in Madrid on May 6? Ajax hold all the aces after a 1-0 win in north London but it’s too early to rule out Spurs who are boosted by the return from suspension of Heung-Min Son who has been a key player in the absence of Harry Kane.
I’m taking Ajax to edge the tie but they may suffer a scare on the way and let’s hope there’s a tenth of the drama we saw at Anfield. I’ve posted an Amsterdam preview and kevinmac has written a more detailed Ajax vs Spurs preview and tips here.
There’s not much else to look at on Wednesday so I’ll take a chance to do some early research for the weekend.
On Tuesday my Messi to score Super Single was beaten and QoS beat my Top Treble. Inverness and Clyde did the business with away wins but Queens lost 2-1 at Montrose without 40-goal Stephen Dobbie. I wouldn’t have backed him had I known he wouldn’t be involved.
Well done to all the winners including Greg with his Dutch goals tip. Plenty of winners on the Liverpool game and I reckon maccathered is due a few apologies.
