There is a feast of Scottish Premier League action this Christmas with the crunch clash between Old Firm rivals Celtic and Rangers the pick of the bunch. In recent weeks Celtic have managed to close the gap between themselves and league leaders Rangers and depending on results on Christmas Eve, a win against The Gers four days later could see them go top. However, both teams will be focusing  on their respective matches on Saturday, with Rangers travelling to St Mirren and Celtic hosting Kilmarnock. The SPL’s top goalscorer Nikica Jelavic is the 3/1 favourite to open the scoring at St Mirren Park on Saturday and the striker has three goals in his last three games for Rangers making him well worth a punt. Kyle Lafferty can be backed at 7/2 to score first, while David Healy is priced at 5/1 and Kane Hemmings at 11/2. St Mirren’s Steven Thompson can be backed at 9/1 to be the First Goalscorer.

Rangers will then travel to fierce rivals Celtic on Wednesday 28th for the eagerly anticipated second Old Firm derby of the season. Celtic have been installed as the 11/10 favourites for the win, while Rangers can be backed at 5/2, with a draw priced at 5/2. Recent meetings have been close, with both teams winning twice in the last five matches. Rangers thumped Celtic 4-2 earlier in the season and they will be looking for a similar performance to inspire them to victory on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Celtic will be gunning for a vital win which, depending on results on Saturday, could propel them to top spot. At the very least it will prevent Rangers from extending their lead at the top of the table.
