FEB 21: FIVE TO FOLLOW

I’VE got to start this line with Napoli to beat Chelsea at home in the Champions League.

There will be a separate Champions League preview elsewhere on the site so I won’t go into too much detail.

To sum up Chelsea look in a bit of a mess. They were poor against Birmingham in the FA Cup on Saturday and dreadful in losing 2-0 at Everton on their previous outing.

That was preceded by league draws with Man Utd, Swansea and Norwich so the Blues are going through a torrid time.

Napoli are going well in Serie A, boast a super striker in Edinson Cavani who unlike Fernando Torres scores goals and accounted for Man City in the group stage. The Italians look too good for me at 14-11.

If they win the line’s off to a decent start so we can throw in a couple of League One shorties.

First up it’s leaders Charlton who are backable against lowly Rochdale who haven’t scored a goal on their last four away trips.

Charlton remain unbeaten at home with nine wins and five draws and should win comfortably even through Rochdale notched a morale-boosting win against Bournemouth at the weekend. The Addicks are unbeaten in five since being floored by Fulham in the FA Cup and the home win pays 5-11.

MK Dons destroyed Oldham 5-0 at the weekend to end a mini slump during which they hadn’t win in six games. Boosted by that big lift they should be too strong for a Bury side with just one win in five.

Like Charlton, home is where the hurt is for MK Dons who have lost just once this season so back them at 6-11.

Cheltenham are another side who notched a fabulous 5-0 win at the weekend, away to Dagenham and Redbridge. Next up for the League Two joint leaders is a home clash with a Wimbledon outfit who have been blowing hot and cold all season.

They recently notched three successive wins to move away from the drop zone but have followed that with a run of three games without a win. Cheltenham have struggled at times at home this season but the 5-0 should encourage them to move on. The home is 11-17.

Complete the fivefold in the SFL with an Elgin side who run into top form. Last midweek’s 6-1 thumping of Peterhead was superb but they followed that with an even more impressive 3-0 weekend defeat of leaders Alloa.

Elgin’s two big wins have moved them to the verge of the play-offs and they’ll be confident of seeing off a Clyde side whose only win in eight was against bottom of the table East Stirling. Elgin are 23-17.
