FA Cup Third Round Betting – Red Card Specials

Birmingham v WolvesSaturday 7th January (12.30pm, ESPN)
Man City v Man UtdSunday 8th January (1pm, ITV1)
Arsenal v LeedsMonday 9th January (7.45pm, Sky Sports 1)

The FA Cup third round is back this weekend which means football fans are in store for all the drama and excitement that is synonymous with it. To celebrate its return Paddy Power are offering a cracking money-back special: If there is a Red Card in any of the above matches, then they will refund all losing first/last goalscorer, correct score & scorecast singles on that match.

The pick of the matches comes on Sunday at the Etihad Stadium when Manchester City lock horns with fierce local rivals Manchester United in what promises to be a spicy derby. While United will be desperate to get revenge on City for their humiliating 6-1 drubbing earlier in the season, City will be eager to inflict more damage on their neighbours. Roberto Mancini’s men have been installed as the 11/10 favourites for the win, while United can be backed at 23/10, with a draw priced at 11/5. Sergio Aguero is the 9/2 favourite to open the scoring, while Rooney has been handed odds of 6/1. It is likely to be a tighter match than the one back in October, with a 2-1 home win priced at 7/1.

The early kick-off on Saturday sees Championship side Birmingham City square up against Premier League outfit Wolves in the West Midlands derby. Neither team will be particularly happy with their respective league positions and they will therefore hope that the FA Cup is a welcome distraction. Paddy Power have installed Birmingham as the narrow 11/8 favourites, while Wolves are priced at 15/8, with a draw perhaps the way to go at 9/4. City’s Marlon King is the 5/1 favourite to score first, while the in-form Steven Fletcher can be backed at 6/1. A 2-2 draw could prove to be a fruitful bet at 11/1.

On Monday night Arsenal host Leeds at the Emirates Stadium in a repeat of last season’s third round tie. In that fixture an impressive Leeds side managed to hold The Gunners to a 1-1 draw, only to lose 3-1 at Elland Road 11 days later. A reply this time round is fairly unlikely. Apart from their slip-up against Fulham last Tuesday Arsenal have been on top form in the last few months, while Leeds have struggled for consistency. Arsene Wenger’s men are the odds-on 2/9 favourites for the win, while Leeds have been handed long odds of 11/1, with a draw available at 5/1. Robin Van Persie is the 11/5 favourite to open the scoring, with a 2-0 win for Arsenal looking good at 6/1.
